How to score a tryout

Six steps, and a reference for every kind of thing you might be asked to score — your club picks which of them appear. If you can use a phone, you can do this; there is nothing to install and nothing to set up.

Tap a value and it's recorded. Lose signal or close the tab and your work is still there when you come back.

Blank is not a zero

Skip anything a player isn't trying out for. Nothing is stored, so it can never drag their ranking down.

Your scores are yours

You can't see other assessors' numbers and they can't see yours. Scoring independently is the whole point.

Step by step

Six steps
  1. 1

    Sign in and open Tryouts

Sign in and go to Tryouts. If more than one tryout is running today, pick the one you're working — the roster and the scoring sheet both follow that choice.

    Tryouts

You'll only ever see the divisions you've been assigned. If the list is empty, you haven't been assigned one yet — that's an admin fix, not something you've done wrong.

  2. 2

    Find the player

Type the bib numberand press Find, or tap the box and pick from the list. The list shows who still needs scoring, with a dot per section so you can see at a glance what's done.

Players you've already finalized drop off the list. You can still reach one by typing their bib number if you need to change something.

  3. 3

    Work down the sections

Each section holds a few things to score. Tap a value and it's recorded — there's nothing to save. Exactly what you're asked for depends on the board your club built; the reference below covers every kind.

Tap the same value again to clear it. A blank is not a zero — it means “not scored”, and it stays out of the player's totals entirely.

  4. 4

    Skip what doesn't apply

Position sections — pitching, catching, goalkeeping — usually carry a not trying outbutton. Use it for a player who isn't going for that position and the section collapses out of your way.

Skipping stores nothing at all. It is nota row of zeros, so it can never drag a player's ranking down.

  5. 5

    Add notes worth remembering

Any section can take a short note, and there's a box at the end for overall thoughts. Coaches read these next to the numbers — this is where “played up an age group all season” belongs.

  6. 6

    Review, then finalize

Review scoresshows everything you've entered on one screen. Check it, then Finalize. Until you do, your work is a draft — it's saved, but it doesn't count toward the player's totals.

You can re-open a finalized player and change something; it goes back to a draft until you finalize again. Your scores are yours — you can't see other assessors' numbers, and they can't see yours. That independence is the whole point.

What you might be asked for

Your club uses some of these
Rating

A row of buttons — 1 to 5, or 1 to 10

Tap the number. Higher is better; the value is the score.

Adjustment

−1 · 0 · +1

For things like hustle or attitude. It nudges a total rather than driving it — 0 means nothing to say.

Yes / no

Two buttons

A skill they either showed or didn't. Some count toward the score, some are recorded for information only.

Timed

A box for seconds

A dash or shuttle. Type the time as the stopwatch read it — faster is better, and the app converts it to points.

Measured

A box with a unit

Exit velocity, a vertical jump, a throw. Enter the measurement; higher is better.

Count

A box for a whole number

Reps, made shots, catches out of ten.

Pick one

A short list of labels

Choose the one that fits. Each option is worth what the club decided.

Note or photo

A text box or a camera button

Never scored. Recorded so a coach can see it later.
